Inspirational Thought: I would like to introduce to you our partners in ministry.
After a long wait time with many months of renovations and updates to the Ackerman Center and classrooms below the sanctuary, Our House, Inc. began operations this week. It is wonderful to see autistic individuals – known as participates – coming through our doors to join this worthwhile program. Of course, nothing escapes me from mission opportunities with which I have already been in conversation with the director, Gabriela, of Our House, Inc. “One thing that the participates enjoy doing is cooking meals,” she said. A grant has allowed them to cook for many organizations in the past. I couldn’t resist so I mentioned cooking for Bistro and they were thrilled. So, we are off and cooking. When I asked the parents how our church could help them, the parents unanimously mentioned volunteer work that the participants can do. Again, our church will be able to connect them with community volunteerism. If you have any ideas please send them my way.
Another partner in ministry is the Wushu Karate School. Their mission is to provide authentic Chinese martial arts (Wushu) instruction. They are a member of the USA Wushu-Kungfu Federation and the Training Center for USA Wushu Team Trials. The school started operating in April. They have classes for all ages. If you would like to take a martial arts class or Tai Chi please contact them at (973) 328-6987. Even though the school meets in our Fellowship Hall seven days a week, it will be shared use with them.
We are fortunate to have these two organizations share our sacred space. With each having an incredible mission statement to empower people’s lives, I can’t think of a better way to repurpose our church building and utilize our space. Now, our building is occupied seven days a week with a diverse group of people doing amazing things. I hope that when they enter our doors they will sense a spirit of welcome and one of peace. May we all do our part to be hospitable to our new partners in ministry – where God’s House is indeed their House, where all are welcome.
Until we meet again, may God’s love be with you,
Prayer of the Week: Lord Jesus Christ, help me not to grow weary doing tasks for today. Give me an extra measure of your grace to accomplish what I need to do; through Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

A Special Invitation
The church is clean and very well ventilated. Surfaces have been sanitized. There is enough room in the sanctuary for everyone to social distance. We have masks available if you forget yours and plenty of hand sanitizer. It is very safe to come to church now, so come on back this Sunday. We miss you!
Pentecost Offering 2021
Please give generously to the Pentecost Offering. Your gifts will help transform the lives of more young adults as they work for change alongside communities around the world.
Your gift will help our church step up its efforts to reach at-risk children.
Since 1998, Presbyterians of all ages have raised more than $11 million for ministries that benefit younger members of God’s family. We believe we are called to do even more to support and care for young people to build a strong foundation of faith. They are the future of our church and the world.
An Offering will be taken on Pentecost Sunday, May 23, 2021.
Please give generously.
